American smartphone-maker Motorola is reportedly planning to launch an affordable 4G handset early next year in India.
Motorola will reportedly launching affordable 4G handsets in India sometime next year. In an interview with Economic Times, Rick Osterloh, president and chief operating officer at Motorola Mobility, stated that the vendor will be very aggressive in the 4G segment in India in 2015.
While there’s no word on exactly what new 4G smartphones Motorola is planning to release, one of them could be the rumored successor to the Moto E – a handset that’s been very well received in India. Besides 4G/LTE connectivity, the new Moto E is supposed to feature a 4.5-inch display with 540 x 960 pixels, Android Lollipop, and a better processor than the current model.
Right now, Motorola is India’s fifth largest smartphone maker (behind Samsung, Micromax, Lava, and Karbonn), thanks to the success that the already-mentioned Moto E (pictured above), the Moto G and the Moto X have had.
Earlier this year, Lenovo completed the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, and now the duo is considered the world’s third largest smartphone maker.
